Helsinki, Finland – The GDWC is presenting the Game Development World Championship 2017: an annual competition for indie game developers, game development students and anyone interested in game development.
This year in addition to our two main categories “Pro” for professional teams and “Hobby” for students and hobbyists we will also introduce a third one in co-operation with Finpro and the Finnish Ministry of Education that will give the competitors, whose games will be featuring Finland, an extra chance to be selected among the finalists.
The enrollment to the contest is free of charge and it is a great opportunity to gain extra visibility, giving the chance to developers to show their game(s) to a broad audience.
The event will take place online, so everybody is welcome to join.
The six finalists, chosen by a panel of Finnish industry professionals from companies such as Colossal Order (Cities Skylines) and Redlynx (Trials: Fusion) will be awarded with a trip to Finland and Sweden including visits to some of the best known companies in the field such as King Digital Entertainment plc (Candy Crush) and Rovio Entertainment Ltd (Angry Birds).
Registration is possible at thegdwc.com and will close the 30th of September.
Any game that hasn’t been released before 2017 can participate: a few screenshots, a written description, a playable build and a gameplay video of the game(s) are required for the submission.
For game developers, this is an easy opportunity to get extra visibility for yourselves, help to motivate yourselves and most importantly, it doesn’t cost a penny.
